We watched Lilyella take on her 4th professional fight in the latest bout on her journey in becoming world champ!
Lilyella Craw-Seaman is currently 3-0 in her professional boxing career after winning her comeback fight in November. Her next fight would be at Trinity Park in Ipswich at ‘Trouble in Town’ event. She was coming up against an opponent 7kg heavier in Ester Konecna, with Lilyella having already gone up a few weight divisions anyway.
There was not only the difference in weight, Konecna was also 12 years her senior and with a lot more ring experience. It was going to be a tough test.
The atmosphere and evening at Trinity Park was fantastic, with 7 fights that evening and lots of up and coming fighters trying to take the next step in their own boxing career journey. Notably, Jordan Grannum II was having his 199th professional fight that evening which is an incredible feat.
The time came when Lilyella’s entrance music was blaring and we all waited with anticipation of her entering the ring and hopefully getting the business done. She came in looking calm and collected, a slight swagger which I believe is necessary in the boxing world.
The fight was underway and credit to both fighters, they were giving it their all. They both were dealing some good hits, guarding well and displacing each other for control of the ring. As the rounds went on you could see both were starting to fatigue as they were trading blows which were taking its toll.
The final round came and trying to predict without bias we had it as Lilyella pipping her opponent on points, however the final round cemented our decision. She came out with sheer ferocity and force and put on a classy show to end what was a great fight from both corners.
The referee held both fighters poised for the decision to be called, and as we predicted Lilyella had the decision which created a huge roar from the crowd.
We managed to catch up with Lilyella after the fight and some of her travelling posse and she was glad to have got the W, but at the same time incredibly respectful of Konecna and making her work for it.
With a record of 4-0, Lilyella has already got her next fight scheduled against Zoe Hunte-Smith, which is already brewing to be a big clash. The two have been exchanging some shots online and calling each other out, which is set to create a feisty affair at York Hall, London on the 25th April.
The winner of the fight could land themselves a potential British title fight after, so there is lots more to play for than just bragging rights.
